b) I don’t think it’s about making a kid feel guilty. It’s part of an overall Church wide effort to solve the problem from the inside out. Every adult that has any interaction with children now - including CCD teachers (this is how I know) has to undergo special training to prevent and recognize abuse.

Would “weeding out the pedophiles and nut jobs” be better? Obviously. Unfortunately, it’s not always easy to spot the “I am A Pedophile And/Or Nut Job” sign.

Parents teach their children not to talk to strangers. Schools (as well as parents, hopefully) routinely teach kids about “good touch vs. bad touch” and how to say no, etc etc etc - and no one says “oh great, you’re saying it’s the kid’s fault”.

Miss Britt - A) It certainly looks like there should be a pair of legs and stirrups involved. B) So where’s the adult coloring book, and what do those pages look like? C) I need to look into redesigning those signs. I don’t necessarily think it’s an issue of making the kid feel like it’s his fault, as much as it leaves that open as a possibility (a kid who gets abused makes the short leap from “I knew I shouldn’t be alone with him” to “It’s my fault.”)
