Since the first of the year, I have been trying to seriously limit my intake of high fructose corn syrup.

This is extremely difficult for me, because I have a coke addiction. Plus, I like sauces. Sauces are good… barbecue sauce, ketchup, sweet and sour… it’s all good. It’s also chock full of HFCS.

I have to go on the record and say that I genuinely despise Diet Coke, and basically every single other diet soda on the planet. I can’t stand that dry aftertaste (I don’t like dry wines, either).

I have managed to find some diet sodas that I find to be palatable:

  • Diet Dr. Pepper with Berries and Cream
  • Diet A&W Root Beer tastes just like the real stuff, only draw back is the lack of caffeine
  • Diet Pepsi with Strawberries and Cream
  • Diet 7-Up isn’t so bad

Peach Citrus FrescaI’ve been making do with those four choices for the past six months. It’s impossible to order any of those varieties while out at a restaurant where the only choice is Diet Coke. I usually end up drinking water and iced tea.

This past weekend, I was wandering around Target looking for some snacks to take to the lake when I happened upon the best no-calorie soda EVER!

The new Peach Citrus Fresca. It’s awesome. I know, it doesn’t have any caffeine, and I’m not going to be able to find it in any restaurants, but it’s good enough I might just start carrying some with me everywhere I go.

I can’t wait to taste it with vodka.

* No, I haven’t been paid for this post. I’m not affiliated with The Coca-Cola company in any way, but if they’re interested in sponsoring a post, or buying an ad, I’m of course open to offers. :)

Not in an attempt to play devil’s advocate, but that sounds very unappealing. But, I pretty much only drink Propel and Water. I hope someday to add beer back to that.

Killer - It may sound unappealing, but it is OH SO GOOD. I wish I could get the taste for beer, I just can’t. How’s the 100 pounds in 6months diet going for you?

I’m a Diet Coke junkie. It is, quite literally, the only thing I drink.

I love regular fresca. Can’t WAIT to try the new flavor!

HATE diet pop. ick. aspertaime in anything grosses me out. a friend gave me vodka & diet tonic once. i kept making strange noises and she asked what was wrong. when i said the aftertaste of the drink was something i was struggling with she knew right away that my hatred for aspertaime was not something i made up.

my new fave (non alcoholic) drink is san pellegrino water. at sam’s club or costco i can get a case of 12 large (25.3 fl oz) glass bottles for under twelve bucks. the bubbles make me think i am not drinking just water, but 0 calories, 0 fat and 0 carbs is a glorious thing. squeeze a little lemon in there and i am getting vitamins also, dammit!

It is spectacular with Vodka.

As is Crystal light pink lemonade.

And diet cherry coke.

And water, if you’re in a real pinch…

“This is extremely difficult for me, because I have a coke addiction.”

without the capital C, that sentence might give some people the wrong idea. LOL

I drink pretty much just water 75% of the time. Other than that I drink Crystal Light or skim milk or Diet Coke/Pepsi. oh, and beer. LOTS of light beer on Friday and Saturday nights. it does a body good. ;)

Coke Zero (Cherry or Vanilla) has changed my life. I hardly even watch Dr. Phil any more.

OK, so when is my truckload of Fresca and my vodka arriving? You did send it over, did you?

Avitable - You are not alone. I know others who have apparently short circuited their taste buds.

Ginamonster - It is SO FREAKING GOOD. I think I have to actually say it out loud every time I open a can.

hello - I’m not a fan of that flavor either… so that should tell you something. I really like Pellegrino, too. It is way better than Calistoga which is really salty.

Miss Britt - I’m not a fan of the diet cherry coke. I don’t much care for the fake cherry flavoring. Plus it’s Diet Coke. Ick. Why would you ever water down Vodka?

Webmiztris - I caught that myself, but decided that maybe I’d come across as a bit cooler if people thought I was a druggie. I wish I liked beer.

Mist 1 - Coke Zero isn’t half bad. And you can pretty much put vanilla in anything and I’ll like it.

Dutchy - Are you telling me that you don’t get Fresca in Dutchyland? I”m going to have to seriously reconsider my visit there.

if you can find “dopamine - vegas in a can - energy drink” i am highly recommending it. the guys who own the company know my boss and brought us in ice cold cans of the energy drink. TASTY! and this is from the girl who hates energy drinks with a passion. i have a feeling it will be my new hangover cure seeing as how it has 250% of my recommended b12 and 75% of the recommended b6. (110 calories in each 8.4 fl oz can)

the best part? the taste reminds me of fresca! find it if you can. (so far they are in 17 states.)

xoxo
