I received an interesting request via email yesterday that involves all of you, my dear faithful readers.
I don’t want to give away too many details that might let the cat out of the bag, but I do want to pose the following question to all of you:
“How can someone surreptitiously obtain the ring size of a person who does not normally wear jewelry? Asking them to try on one of your own rings will only make them suspicious.”
I have two suggestions:
The easiest: Make a guess based on your own finger size, buy the ring and have it resized later if necessary.
A bit more difficult: Quietly and carefully wrap a piece of string around the proper finger while the subject is sleeping. Mark the string where the end meets and take it to the jeweler. They can determine the size from that.
Do any of you have any other suggestions? Post them in comments.
