I’m not going to talk too much about the boys of American Idol in this post. Mostly because it was dull, dreary, and yawn inducing. The sexual tension between Ryan Seacrest and Simon is getting fun to watch, though.
I just have a couple of points to make:
- Blake Lewis is great. He should make at least the top 5, if not #2.
- Chris Richardson deserves to be top 5. I loved his cover of Keith Urban tonight.
- I think Sanjaya Malakar is still so upset that his sister didn’t make the show that he has decided to actually become her. It’s not working. And seriously… the hula? I haven’t felt so uncomfortable for someone on tv since Lisa Kudrow on “The Comeback” or maybe Oscar on “The Office” Gay Witch Hunt episode.
- Jared Cotter reminds me of Alfonso Ribiero’s character on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” He’s the whitest black dude I’ve seen in ages. Stop trying to be Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, or Otis Redding. Aim to be Wayne Newton or Englebert Humperdinck. You’ll kill in Tahoe.
- I didn’t think anyone could make a Pearl Jam song sound any worse than Eddie Vedder. Sundance Head proved otherwise.
- I actually dug Brandon Rodgers, “I Just Want to Celebrate.” The judges did not.
- I like the concept of a guy singing Leann Rimes’ “I Need You.” Phil Stacey’s execution however was awful.
- Chris Sligh should make top 8 then he should go home. I can’t take his lisp much longer, and his song choices are, at best, peculiar.
Can’t we just get on to the top 8 5 3 where it’s going to be actually interesting?
