Potted Meat Food ProductI have something like 15 different email addresses. Seriously… all the websites that I maintain have at least one address that goes to me, plus my personal address, plus my “anonymous” addresses…. Mac mail does a pretty good job at filtering out spam and junk mail, but it still lets a few through.

I received this one tonight and it disturbed me. While I realize that this is not an unheard of culinary choice, the directness of the speaker was scary:

Hello my friend!

I am ready to kill myself and eat my dog, if medicine prices here (Link to Hong Kong Website) are bad.

Look, the site and call me 1-800 if its wrong..

My dog and I are still alive :)

I think I’ll go dial 1-800 and see what happens.

when you dial 1-800, tell the bastard not to eat his dog. he can do whatever he wants to himself, but that dude had better leave the dog alone.

Holy shit - I got that one about two years ago and actually wrote a post about it, too, asking how he can possibly kill himself first and THEN eat his dog.

I’m thinking that in general, it’s not a good idea to eat anything out of a can that has to tell you it’s food.

i’m sure someone in hong kong has a really screwed up translator program. i bet the message was really supposed to say, “i’m ready to eat myself and kill the dog…” when is someone going to make a translator program that catches and understands the nuances of human speech, regardless of the language?

danny - I’m more inclined to think it was supposed to be eat my dog and kill myself. I don’t think a computer will ever be able to accurately translate all the slang and colloquial statements.

Liz - It’s dog food, anyway.
