Bathroom Mirror I have a request. It’s a simple request, and I hope that you will take this request to heart.

For all of you who think it is oh-so-cool to hang bathroom mirrors behind the toilet, please stop it. I know you think it “opens up the room” and “makes the room look so much larger.”

What you have never really considered is the fact that most men stand in front of the toilet to pee.

Think for a second about the appeal of watching yourself urinate. What? There’s no appeal?

Exactly.

MagnifiedThis goes for small hanging mirrors, wall-length mirrors, anything reflective really. I have no desire to watch myself.

My aunt keeps one of those little hand-held mirrors on a stand on the back of the toilet. Somehow, every single time I step into her bathroom that mirror has been positioned exactly at the right position to reflect my… self… back at myself.

I really hate it.

Though, I must admit, I do have a certain spring in my step on the days she leaves the magnifying side out.

deal! i promise not to hang any mirrors behind the pot. now if only i could convince EVERYONE to put both the seat and the lid down. then and only then would i be truly happy.

(i mean really, is it so difficult for everyone to have to lift and close something? c’mon, people!)

hello - I’m already in that habit, and have been for years… one of my cats is fascinated by water, and if a toilet lid is left up a wet cat is a predictable result. There’s a rule in the house that whomever leaves the lid up gets to clean my wet pussy. Funny, no one seems to forget.

What about full length beside the toilet? ;)

I was taught that the lid goes down. always. I don’t have wandering pets (mostly), and the lid is still down. Meanwhile, don’t people think about that stuff before hanging mirrors? who wants to watch themself on the toilet? Don’t answer that.

Da Duck - Ask yourself if the placement of the mirror affords your guests a view of themselves while man handling. If the answer is yes, move the full length mirror the hallway or bedroom.

Ginamonster - The lid down rule has saved me many instances of having to fish around in the bowl for a hair/toothbrush or ring that enthusiastically left my hands. I think we all know the answer to the question “Who wants to watch themself on the toilet.”

Da Duck - What a shame! PS. I want sandstone walls in MY bathroom.

Our whole bathroom is sandstone. http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/2451/bathroomfromhallrb3.jpg
While it is pretty it is such a pain to keep from getting chalky.

Can I keep a mirror above the headboard? Please don’t take that away from us!

Toby - I encourage you to keep the mirror above the headboard. I also would like to suggest that you install one directly over the bed. Along with a web camera which will allow me to continue my spy and stalk efforts. Thanksomuch.

Who say’s you need the mirror and cam? It’s not like you haven’t seen me naked before…and someone once told me that I could be very persuasive, so I’m sure it wouldn’t take to much to talk Steve into letting you and UMB watch. Just a thought though. LMAO

Toby - I seem to recall the persuasive nature. I think I need a moment to compose myself before saying that this conversation might best be carried out via email. ::Grin::
