Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube ManHere’s a shocking admission…

I just don’t understand [adult swim]. I know that Wil is going to be so disappointed.

Don’t get me wrong, I ::heart:: Futurama and Family Guy. I watch every night. Even if I have already seen the episode a dozen times I will watch it. I like most animated shows… I was a huge fan of The Oblongs, still love the Simpsons, I even sit through American Dad because it amuses me on occasion. I watch a couple of episodes of King of the Hill every day.

I like off beat humor. Despite UMB’s protests, I still say that Monty Python and the Holy Grail is one of the funniest movies ever. I cackle to Pee Wee’s Playhouse.

But I can’t bring myself to sit through ANY other [adult swim] shows. It is all I can do to sit through the commercials.

So my question is, what’s the appeal of Aqua Teen Hunger Force or Robot Chicken? The commercials for “Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job” are painful. Clips I’ve seen of “Saul of the Mole Men” are asinine.

What type of person do these shows appeal to? I can understand the appeal of almost every other type of show on the air… even if I don’t personally care for it, I understand.

But I just don’t get the rest of the [AS] lineup.

Does that make me uncool? Am I not nearly as with it as I thought?*

*Perhaps the use of the term “with it” makes that a rhetorical question…

** I love that there’s a www.wackywavinginflatablearmflailingtubeman.com. If you’re not sure what the hell I’m talking about, here’s the video.

    Me too!!!!

I hate all of those other shows, with the exception of “Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law”, which I don’t think is even on anymore.

I hate going to bed, turning on the TV, and seeing that my beloved Futurama or Family guy is not on.

    Worst ever.

Hi Craig! Welcome to these parts! I can’t say I ever saw any of the Harvey Birdman shows. Two episodes of Futurama followed by an episode of Family Guy airs Mon-Thursday beginning at 2am. I’m an insomniac so I always get to catch them. It’s just painful to sit through that awful HOT HOT HOT commercial.

The newer shows seem to be aimed at messing with stoners’ minds. However, Venture Bros is the absolute best original show they have on. Blessing and a curse, they actually take their time with it so the show’s seasons are far apart. Season 2 comes out next month on DVD. You should Netflix the first season — it’s damn hilarious.

BTW, when did Netflix become a verb? I’m assuming a few months after Google did, but can’t be sure.

I agree. They will have a few good original shows, Harvey Birdman, Aqua Teen Hunger force (I do like that one), and Venture Bros., but they they have some completely idiotic ones like Squid Billies, Robot Chicken, and many more. I think they just throw anything on and see what sticks.

Howard – I’ve done my fair share of getting stoned, and I still don’t think I could get into those shows. I’m willing to give Venture Brothers a try based on Craig and your suggestions. You can add Digg and Stumble as additional words that have become noun-verbs like google and netflix.

Killer – If anyone knows anything about throwing things against the wall to see if they stick, it’s you.

Tanjua – Meaning of Life is funny, too. But I don’t think it’s nearly as funny as “Shrubbery” or “But ‘e’s got sharp poin’ee teeth!”

I love Squid Billies… but I’ve only seen it twice.
