Eleia NunezIt’s news stories like this that make me truly frightened for our future.

Meet Eleia Nunez, age 12, of Stockton California.

She went missing from her home two days ago. Despite the police and fire departments search via helicopter, patrols and tracking dogs, her disappearance remained a mystery until tonight.

From the news reports tonight, she is thankfully home safe and sound.

She was found wandering around a neighborhood 3 miles from home. Seems she leaned over the fence in her backyard, fell over it, and “became disoriented and lost.”

In her neighbor’s yard.

But wait! There’s more!

She managed to walk out of her neighbor’s yard, and down her own street and around her own neighborhood. Lost.

Then she kept wandering around. Past businesses, houses, pedestrians and motorists. Presumably during the 34 hours she was gone, she passed cops and firefighters, cabs, and an assortment of potentially helpful faces.

She slept outside in 30 degree weather, picked oranges off someone’s tree for nourishment, and finally flagged down some woman today to use her cell phone.

This girl isn’t 4. She’s 12. Are there no pay phones anywhere in the city of Stockton? Could she not have knocked on ANY door and explained that she was lost?

Either her story is full of shit, or she is destined to die in a horrible “making toast in the shower” incident in the near future.

Belated Happy New Year 2007!
Pretty new template. Except for this very dominant chocolate brown. These round corner boxes with the broad border are very popular lately. I have seen many similar templates around.
Anyhow, all the best for the new year. May all your goals be achieved.
Luck and Love!

I hate to be a bitch about a child - but seriously, I would expect more out of my seven year old.

She is awesome at World of Warcraft, though.

I agree that this might be a lie. If it is true, we should refuse to pay all those cops, fireman, and everyone who was supposed to be looking for her. We might need to fire those tracking dogs as well.

Hello!

This is a sad person with Alzheimer’s, not a Darwin AWard. I humbly request that you change your words, as I am not thining her wandering away, was anything short of sad human frailty.

Regards,
Wendy

Miss Britt - I didn’t want to be a bitch about a kid, either, but come on!?

othurme - Not really. I totally pwned her in a duel last night.

Killer - I was going to mention something about the Keystone Cops who can’t find a 12 year old girl who is just randomly wandering the streets… but I figured that was just too obvious.

Wendy Northcutt - I think you missed the point of this post. You missed that she is a 12 year old girl. You missed that I labeled here a “FUTURE Darwin Award Winner.” Maybe you missed it because you are that list as well?

Dammit, I’m just about getting over my bronchitis/cold stuff that everyone I know on-line has heard me whine about for 4 days, and I glance through a (new-to-me) blog and see a reference to “making toast in the shower”. Ouch, you made my ribs hurt from cough-laughing. Thanks a bunch.

I could be passing judgment too quickly but I’d like to be optimist and think there is no way a yr old could be that stupid… Therefore the only viable option is that she’s a liar and the adults around here are that stupid… Since they obviously believed her…. But that’s just my 2 cents, lol

ACK my entry got botched by my spell checker, lol… Looks like my 2 yr old wrote that, lol

Edit to add… If she is that stupid and was telling the truth… I too am very scared for our future as well.
